Feeling homesick

I love to travel but also quite reluctant to do so. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone isn’t one of them. At least that’s how I’d like to put it considering all the ‘getting out of my comfort zone’ I do all day and everyday. Right?

Not quite. I think I’ve come to a point where I can call my frenetic routine comfortable. I don’t stress about it that much. In fact, I think I strive under all that pressure. It’s fun and I’m quite missing some of that right now. And perhaps that’s where this travel slump comes from.

After scouring for cheap tickets for hours, I’ve finally given up. The cost, literally, isn’t worth the pain I’m going through, which both you and I know is quite temporary.

One way to combat the travel slump (trust me, I’ve researched about it enough since this isn’t the first time I’m feeling this way) is to mix things up and try to build a routine out of the randomness. Meeting new people and exploring the usual places like the mall, coffee shop or even non-touristy places are great options. Your goal is to distract yourself to be in the moment.

Why am I telling you all this? Because homesickness has a lot to do with our routines. It doesn’t matter how intense they are eventually you get used to it. Minor or major changes can affect you in ways you may have not imagined. So, being ready is the best thing you can do for yourself. And believe me, you can’t ever be too prepared for such a change.

Oh yes, if you’ve ever been frustrated with a situation like this, let me tell you it’s totally normal. You’re just having a human experience.
