They haven’t built a filter that…

I am a huge fan of movie, documentary, sports and (even) book trailers! They inspire and excite me. Maybe it’s a thing. Or just my thing. I listen to a few curated ones when I’m training heavy… as if they’re just the perfect soundtrack I need to push some heavyweights. (There’s only so much podcast, heavy metal and hard rock that you can listen to after all.)

Found a great trailer by the good folks at CrossFit on YouTube. I’ve been listening to this on repeat (I think you’ve got to have a YouTube Red subscriptions for that… the ‘listening’ part). It’s inspiring and most importantly resonates with my life’s philosophy. One line that stands out from the track simply says: “They haven’t yet built a filter that transforms selfies into self-confidence…

Ah. Now that’s deep. I transcribed the lyrics (because I couldn’t find them anywhere) here. Hope you’ll enjoy it.

Patience – CrossFit

Patience: 10 Years of the CrossFit Games

They haven’t yet built a filter that makes lazy look like the calloused hands of a future champion.

They haven’t yet built a filter that turns the empty talk of ‘wants’ and ‘will be’s’ of ‘will haves’ and ‘should be’s’ into the quiet walk of “have finds” and “will do agains.”

They haven’t yet built a filter that paints the sky the color of the kind of fire that only burns deep inside and late at night… the kind of fire that can’t be extinguished or diminished by anything but a full throttle full body full-throated frontal assault on our own potential

They haven’t yet built a filter that transforms selfies into self-confidence the way only progress after failure after failure after soul-shaping failure as a pain-erasing power to do…

They haven’t yet built a filter that Echoes louder than a snake oil salesman whispering resistance in the tall grass of our Caveman minds…

They haven’t yet built a filter that converts inspiration into action, action into resilience comma that transmogrifies resilience into trust… and trust to patience and patience into victories… and patience can’t be downloaded, can’t be Photoshopped… And cropped into existence, can be sold, borrowed, shared, hurried… and happened upon along the news feed of least resistance. Patience can’t be faked like a smile…

They haven’t yet built a filter… that gets the Alchemy of victory quite right… when most of us are dropping unmeasured drips of ambition… And ego and Pride into the beaker of our days, when most of us are dropping unmeasured drops of hope… and luck and fear beneath the microscope of our gaze… the calloused hands of the future champion know to measure and mix two parts patience for everyone part hustle …

She knows patients without hustle is procrastination… and her soul without patience is merely masturbation.

He knows patience is a second language learn mostly through immersion…

She knows patience is the bushwacked excursion… Into the thickets of a lived life

He knows patience isn’t a wild moment that can be captured like a photograph, can be tamed like a line of code, can be bought and sold like a smartphone.

They haven’t yet beautiful that makes time under tension so sexy it grabs our attention, that makes patience look pristine, that makes the podium seem superfluous to the dream…

This is modern poetry at it’s best. Love it! If you like it, please, do share it with someone you care and needs this.
